FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
Welcome to the FAQ page! Here, I aim to provide clear answers to common inquiries and give you an idea of what to expect when working with me. If you have additional questions that aren’t covered here, feel free to ask—I’m always happy to expand upon these frequently asked questions.
How much does a book cover design cost?
The cost of book cover design can vary depending on several factors, including the complexity of the artwork and the time required to complete the project. For example, a simple print-ready design typically starts at £100, while more intricate designs can go up to £500. On average, most projects are priced around £400. Rest assured, each price is calculated carefully to reflect the unique work involved.
How are payments received?
When it comes to payments, I strive to make the process as straightforward as possible. For UK clients, direct transfer is preferred. For international clients, PayPal is often used; however, Wise is another excellent option for quick and efficient cross-border transactions. If another method is needed, arrangements can be made to suit your preferences.
For small to medium projects, a 50% payment is requested upfront, with the remaining balance settled upon project completion. For larger or more complex projects, custom payment structures can be discussed to better accommodate your needs.
How long does a project take to complete?
In terms of project timelines, most book cover designs are completed within 1–4 weeks. This timeframe largely depends on the scope of the project and the level of detail required.
What information is required to start a project?
To begin, it’s always helpful to provide some initial details. For example, sending a chapter or synopsis from your book allows me to gauge the personality of your story. Additionally, sharing any thoughts or preferences you may have regarding the design can help streamline the creative process and ensure your vision is captured effectively.
Are revisions and changes allowed?
Of course! Revisions are an integral part of the design process, and updates are shared from the early sketching stage onward. While revisions are anticipated, they are typically completed during the initial stages to ensure your satisfaction. I allow a reasonable number of changes to guarantee the final artwork meets your expectations.
Formatting of Completed Book Cover Designs
When it comes to formatting, completed print-ready designs are usually sent as flat, uneditable PDF files. If layered working files are preferred, these can also be provided upon request. Larger files are typically shared via Dropbox due to their size, and Jpeg files are offered when requested by printers. eBook designs are delivered in high-resolution Jpeg format at 300DPI, ensuring optimal print quality. To avoid any issues, it’s always helpful to know your chosen printer or publisher’s specific preferences.
